THE STORY
A long lap pool and a separate circular spa.
Inverloch in October is the off-season — the surf clubs are quiet, the foreshore is empty, and locals get the coast back. The owners of this build are year-round swimmers who use the pool first thing in the morning. The brief was unusually clear: a long lap, properly proportioned, with a spa nearby for after the swim.
We worked the lap pool to the longest dimension the block could support — a clean rectilinear geometry sized for actual stroke-work rather than splash. The spa sits separately, circular, set into a paved entertaining area where it reads as a destination of its own. The split decision was the right one: one shell to do laps, another to soak in.
Both vessels share filtration and chemistry, but the spa runs on its own heating schedule so it's at temperature when the swim is finished. The architectural line stays simple — long pool, round spa, both held flush to the deck.
Inside, the pool finish was chosen with the home and the coast in mind. Coastal homes age well with restrained finishes — we picked accordingly.
