ABOUT THE STUDIO

A family team building
architectural concrete pools
on the Bass Coast.

Bass Pools has been family-run since 2008. We design, build and look after architect-led concrete pools for the families who live on the Bass Coast and across Melbourne's south-east. One team, the whole way.

A builder who lives on the coast has to stand behind the pool at the footy, at the surf club, at the school gate.

OUR STORY

Started in 2008. Family-run from day one.

Bass Pools was started for one reason to build pools properly, on a coast where most don't last decades.

The Bass Coast is unforgiving on a build that isn't engineered for it. Sandy ground, a moving water table, salt air carried directly off the water — the conditions decide whether a pool is still sound in twenty years or starts going wrong in five.

We started Bass Pools to do that work seriously. Concrete shells, tiled finishes, engineering before tile, one team carrying the job from the first line on the plan to the years after it's filled. It's a slower way to build a pool, and it's the only way to build one that lasts.

A hundred plus pools later, we're still doing it the same way. The work has stayed close. The Bass Coast first, and Melbourne's south-east and bayside on the way.

WHAT WE WORK TO

Four things we won't compromise on, on any build.

01 · ENGINEERING

The shell holds, or nothing else
matters.

Every shell engineered for the block it sits on — not to a template. On a coastal site that means sandy ground, salt and a moving water table. On a hinterland block it means stable ground and a wider view to hold. The structural work is the work that decides whether a pool is still sound in twenty years.

02 · FINISH

Fully tiled. Always.

Tile holds its colour and surface for decades in coastal water. Rendered finishes don't, on this coast. Every Bass pool is fully tiled inside, chosen with the architect and the home rather than from a catalogue default.

03 · TEAM

One team. Whole job. No handover.

The same team that listens to the brief is the team that pours the shell, lays the tile and comes back to look after it. No chain of subcontractors you've never met. No handover where the accountability goes missing.

04 · HONESTY

The quote you sign is the price you pay.

Itemised, written, no obligation. If the site can't take what you want we'll tell you in the room, before you spend a cent on design. We don't bait-and-switch on the inclusions and we don't run a change-order business.

WHERE WE WORK

The Bass Coast is home. Melbourne is on the way.

Based on the coast, we build and service pools from Inverloch and Wonthaggi across to Phillip Island and San Remo, and through to Melbourne's bayside and south-east. We don't chase work across the whole city. A builder spread too thin is no use to anyone.

If your block is on the Bass Coast, in Melbourne's south-east or bayside, or on the Mornington Peninsula, we're the right team. If it's further afield, we'll tell you straight.
