RENOVATIONS & POOL CARE

Bringing pools back to life. Looking after them once they're there.

A well-built concrete pool can last decades. After 10 to 15 years on a coastal block, even the best ones need work — resurfacing, re-equipping, a spa addition, a structural fix. Bass takes on renovations across the Bass Coast and Melbourne, including pools we didn't build.

A good concrete pool isn't replaced. It's brought back.

Pool renovation is the work we do that doesn't get featured in design magazines. It's also some of the most rewarding work we do — a 20-year-old pool that's been neglected gets the shell sound again, gets re-tiled in a finish that suits the home as it is now, gets a spa added, gets equipment that runs at a fraction of the old running cost.

We take on full renovations and targeted upgrades. Same engineering-first approach we use on new builds. Same team carries the job start to finish. Honest written quotes, no hidden change-orders.

For pools that just need ongoing care, we run service plans across the Bass Coast and Melbourne — including pools Bass didn't build.

WHAT WE TAKE ON

Renovation work, from full resurface through to single-equipment swaps.

01 · RESURFACING

Full interior tile resurface.

The defining move on most pool renovations. After 10 to 15 years on a coastal block, the original interior finish — whether tile, render or paint — needs replacement. We tile the interior fully, in a finish chosen with you, and the pool feels brand new again. Properly engineered tile lasts decades; renders crack and discolour faster on this coast.

  • Tile selection Kit Kat, square mosaic, glass mosaic, custom — same options as our new builds.

  • Shell prep Any structural issues addressed before tiling. We don't tile over a problem.

  • Waterline restoration Coping and tile-line restored or replaced as needed.

02 · RE-EQUIPPING

Pump, filter, heater, chemistry — bring the equipment up to date.

Old pool equipment is the running-cost trap. A variable-speed pump alone can cut electricity 70% over a legacy single-speed; a heat pump replacing an old gas heater saves four-figure annual amounts; modern chemistry monitoring cuts maintenance time to nothing. We re-equip across the Bass Coast and Melbourne.

  • Variable-speed pumps The single biggest running-cost cut available.

  • Heat pumps Replace old gas heaters; lower running cost over the season.

  • App-based automation Add modern control to an older pool.

  • Filtration upgrades Cartridge or media to match the pool and usage.

03 · SPA ADDITIONS

Adding a spa to an existing pool.

The single most popular renovation we take on. Adding a spa to an existing pool changes how a backyard gets used — year-round instead of three months. We can build a new spa as part of the existing pool's filtration and heating, or as a separate vessel where the geometry calls for it.

  • Integrated spa New spa built into / next to the existing shell, shared plumbing.

  • Standalone spa Separate vessel, own filtration — cleaner architectural line on some sites.

  • Spillover Spa spills into the existing pool, integrated soundscape.

04 · STRUCTURAL & SAFETY

Shell repairs, coping, fencing.

For older pools that have moved on the block, cracked, or had compliance changes that the existing fence no longer meets, we do the structural and safety work. We do a full assessment before quoting — some pools are sound and just need a refresh, others need real engineering work first.

  • Shell repair Structural issues addressed, engineered fix.

  • Coping replacement Stone or paving renewed as needed.

  • Fencing & compliance Frameless glass replacing older legacy fencing, current pool-safety compliant.

POOL CARE

Ongoing service for pools we built — and pools we didn't.

Bass runs service plans across the Bass Coast and Melbourne's south-east and bayside. Most clients want fortnightly or monthly servicing so the chemistry stays balanced and the equipment lasts.

We service pools we didn't build. If your previous builder has moved on or stopped servicing, get in touch.
