REGION 02 · PHILLIP ISLAND & SAN REMO

Architectural concrete pools, across the bridge.

Holiday homes, family compounds, and architect-designed contemporary pools from San Remo through Cowes to Cape Woolamai. Specced for stop-start use and long stretches between visits.

A different brief  to the inland one.

Phillip Island and San Remo are weekend country — second homes, holiday compounds, multi-generational gatherings. Most clients in this region come to us with the same handful of asks: a pool that can sit idle for weeks and be swimmable when they arrive, equipment that handles wind and salt with light touch, and a design that holds its own when the family pulls in Friday afternoon.

We're 20 minutes from the San Remo bridge. The trip across to Cowes or Ventnor adds another 25. That puts us closer to Phillip Island sites than most Melbourne pool builders — and we know the planning landscape on both sides of the bridge.

What we build here is mostly contemporary, architect-led, and integrated with landscape and home. Less ornamental than bayside builds. Often with a sightline to the water in the brief.

LOCAL CONDITIONS

What island and strip builds need.

01 · WIND & SALT EXPOSURE

The island sits in the wind. Equipment has to survive it.

Phillip Island sites are typically more wind-exposed than mainland Bass Coast equivalents. We brief equipment selection, equipment-housing, and cover specification with that in mind — a budget-spec build buys you a 5-year heater replacement cycle. Properly-specced builds we did 15+ years ago are still running.

02 · STOP-START USE PATTERNS

The pool sits idle for stretches. It has to wake up cleanly.

A holiday-home pool has a different chemistry rhythm than a primary-residence pool. We spec automation, dosing and filtration so the pool stays in balance even when no-one's there for three weeks. That's the difference between arriving on Friday to a swimmable pool, and arriving on Friday to a green pool.

03 · BRIDGE LOGISTICS

Trades, concrete and equipment, all over the bridge.

Every truck, every trade, every equipment delivery crosses the San Remo bridge. It needs scheduling. We work with concrete suppliers and trades that handle island work as standard — not Melbourne crews scrambling on the day.

04 · BASS COAST SHIRE PLANNING, ISLAND SIDE

Coastal overlays, vegetation overlays, sometimes wildlife corridors.

The same Bass Coast Shire covers Phillip Island — with extra emphasis on coastal vegetation and protected-species considerations on certain blocks. We document properly for the overlays, work with the Shire planners we know, and don't get caught surprised at approvals.

A POOL, ON THE ISLAND

Ready when you arrive.

Island clients tell us the same thing: the pool needs to be swimmable Friday afternoon. School's out, the family pulls in, the cover comes off. The water has to be clean, the temperature right, the equipment quiet.

That's what we spec for — equipment that handles weeks of absence and is ready inside ten minutes of you walking in the door.
